The States! The UNITED States! Or are we becoming the UN-United States of America?
I'm concerned with the state of our country. So much has changed in the past 20 years. For that, a lot has chanced in the past 5 years and mostly look at what we are seeing change in 2014 alone!
This country that we call ours was not ours from the get go. The native Americans were done wrong and wrong does not do it justice. Some of out Fore Fathers were just down right mean! Yet, there where many that were Christians trying to escape the domination of fear. The one thing I cherish is my Freedom! We are immune to freedom! It's taken for granted. And yes, I do myself at times.
I have thought about how I won the lottery. The lottery of where I would be born. I was born in a small community in Union County, KY. Smack dab (almost) in the middle of FREEDOM! Stop and ponder this thought for a few seconds. What if you were born in say El Salvador? Or maybe in Iraq! Ukraine seems like it would have been a good place at one time, yet not now. Then there is the one place I've always wanted to visit but haven't. ISRAEL! God chosen people. Hey I didn't do it! God did! If you want to get mad, get mad at Him. Ill let you in on a secret.......He don't care if you get mad because He Is GOD! And besides that, you will loose when you or I fight Him.
I remember (and still do at times now) know what it feels like to be not wanted. Well in Israel's case......they are HATED! This all goes back to Abraham & Sarah, Abraham's wife. She (Sarah) could not bare a Son for Abraham so she encouraged Abraham to have a child with her hand maiden "Hagar". She bare Abraham a son and his name was Ishmael. The way she gave birth to Ishmael was amazing and quiet unusual! Hagar sat on Sarah's knees with her legs spread. Ishmael gave birth sitting on Sarah as though she felt like she had a part in honoring Abraham with a son. As the boys grew, Sarah noticed Ishmael making fun of the son she had after she wanted Abraham to lie with Hagar. His name was Isaac. They both (Abraham & Sarah were in their or right at 100 years old.
Well Sarah was jealous and it grieved Abraham. He decided to send Hagar with Ishmael out of the fold of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac and the rest of the tribe.
Today, the dislike of Sarah & Hagar, the resentment, hatred, jealousy is why the Mid-East fight, fight, and keep fighting! They have been fighting and they will keep on fighting until the Lord Jesus Christ Comes back and settles it all. Israel is God's chosen people. So we the United States, (not un-united States) had better get our decisions in order and NOW. I believe we are such a fruitful nation because of our support of Israel. We better not turn our backs on our greatest national friend. "Israel"

WHAT WILL IT TAKE?
What will it take to bring our country back together?
Will it be another finical depression? Maybe another attack on this country we all (most anyway) take for gran it? What about another Civil War?
After September 11, 2001, our nation that (God has been so gracious to), united as had not been seen in years. Members of Congress standing on the steps in the nations capital signing patriots songs. People where scared! Scared that those airplanes that crashed into the Twin Towers, a field in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon might come to our front doors. No, not of America's but our own house.
I don't know what it is going to take but, I know what will work. TURNING BACK TO WHAT OUR FOREFATHERS wanted for us. A nation for all people that hold a right to worship God as we feel is right in our hearts.

FAMILY! WHAT A TRIP!
Family! Sitting here typing on this laptop with the TV turned on and it was loud. I thought to myself, “Is it going to wake them up”! Even after living alone for the past two years, family is still breed in my being. I’m one of those who still loves the family atmosphere and the joy and trials it brings. No advice to those who have the little “Carpet Apes” (at least that’s what I call them) No advice. just the way it is. Enjoy every minute they are with you. Like our local TV commercial says at the end of a sales pitch for housing materials. “BLINK…..THERE GONE"!
Still their memories are branded in our hearts and minds.

Protest helps half-court shot contest winner claim his prize

When Kentucky freshman Vincent Swope sank a half-court shot to win a halftime contest during Saturday's game against South Carolina, he did a victory lap around sold-out Rupp Arena and began dreaming of what he could do with the $10,000.

One of the organizers of the contest approached Swope in the midst of his celebration with a copy of the contract he'd signed and a video replay of the shot. The man intimated to Swope that the supermarket chain Kroger might not be willing to pay the $10,000 since Swope appeared to take the shot a few inches beyond the mid-court stripe.
"They said when I released the ball I was over the line," Swope said. "There are some pictures where it looks like I touched the line and some where it looks like I didn't touch the line, but that didn't even cross my mind when I shot it. I was just thinking, 'I'm $10,000 richer."
Word that Kroger's might not pay Swope reached Kentucky Sports Radio founder Matt Jones during the second half of Saturday's game, so he wasted little time in organizing a movement on the freshman's behalf. Jones offered to bring Swope on his postgame radio show and encouraged his 37,000 Twitter followers to tweet in protest with the hashtag #OccupyKroger.
Not only did hundreds of Kentucky fans follow Jones' advice, some also took the movement a step further. Two Wildcats fans made #OccupyKroger signs and stood with them in front of the Kroger in Ashland, Kent.
To Kroger's credit, the supermarket chain didn't take long to realize the PR folly that not paying Swope would be. A representative of Kroger called Jones within an hour of the game ending on Saturday and asked him to tell Swope that he would receive the $10,000.
"That's the Big Blue Nation for you," Swope said. "They supported me, and I really do appreciate it."
Swope is supposed to call Kroger on Monday to find out how he'll receive his money. He plans to put most of it toward paying for school.
The entire episode was surreal for a freshman whose greatest claim to fame before that was dressing up in a referee's costume for Kentucky games this season. Swope first did that for the North Carolina game in December and he's stuck with it ever since after he received positive feedback from his fellow students.
"It's definitely become my trademark," Swope said. "I think I'll have to do it for the rest of my college career."

SHOULD I FEEL OLD?
Now I have two! Two granddaughters that is. My daughter Amy gave birth to a 7 lb. - 10 oz. black haired beauty three days ago. Many grandparents say it makes them feel "Older!" Not me.
When my children were born, I was trying to figure out how I was going to buy diapers, medicine, pictures and on and on. That in itself made me feel old. The worry got to me on our first Christmas. That worry ended me up in a hospital, (an overnight stay). I worried too much, way to much.

Now I can go back to my childhood somewhat. A grandchild is just that. A child that is grand. As a parent there are many responsibilities. As a "Poppa", there is time to step back and simply enjoy. That makes me feel "Young Again".

Stray Bullets
I hope the stray bullets being shot from the candidates of the Republican Party for President will not miss and kill some of the new supporters!
I'm reminded of a old bumper sticker that had printed on it this quote. "LORD, PLEASE GIVE ME PATIENCE AND I WANT IT NOW!" I'm afraid some of the new members will not take down the ones who have been battling Washington politics for years with those who need the boot! Yes I said boot!
During the last debate about the "Debt Ceiling" in congress and not so much a debate in the White House, those who took to the streets in the 2010 elections are so excited to see some candidates that are doing what they said they would do that they (the supporters) are painting everyone with the same brush if they have a difference of opinion. To me. that's not good!
There are 3 branches of government set up by our founding fathers as far as laws & regulations are concerned. They are these: The President who has VETO power alone. Not over a simple line in a bill but a swooping veto to end the whole bill. The congress can only override the President if there is a super majority of members voting the opposite of the President. This would make the bill "Veto Proof" if it were a two-thirds majority.
The Senate is made up of two elected officials from each of the fifty United States of which they each serve a six year term. Not all are held for election each time but are on a staggered schedule.
The House of Representatives. Often referred to as "The Peoples House" this equal one-third has 435 members. The members represent states and are each on a two year term only. Representatives are decided by voters yet it is the once every ten year census that determines how many representatives each state has.
At the present moment the Republicans only are in control of one-third with the Democrats having two-thirds. So who has the control. The Democrats at the present time. That is unless the Republicans and especially the "Tea Party" members that caucus with the Republicans shoot the Party in their own foot. I say that because It is my opinion mostly that we need a new majority senate and a new President to get things headed back in the right direction again. As a voter I can say that I Did Not vote for Barack Obama but that I did vote. We the people hold a large amount of the responsibility for Not Voting at all! These same ones who don't vote usually will be the ones leading the coffee shop discussions on what is wrong with this country.
It's time the good ole USA takes back what we have given away! Here are only a few of my thoughts:
Our tax dollars overseas in all shapes. Use our own coal and natural gas and oil. The tree huggers can come and hug some trees here in the woods of KY if that's what they need to do. Bring back the jobs send to China and other foreign governments that took away our tax base and jobs for half standard products. We can do it better here if our politicians & greedy business people will remember who died to give us our freedom. It was and is Americans. We also need to remember that the separation of church & state Is Not in the U.S. Constitution. It was only in a letter for a speech that was suggested by a Presidential writer that was not used. Yes we do not need the state in the church but we should be allowed to have the church (through individuals) in the state! Most of our ancestors came here across the pond to be able to worship as they felt they should by worshiping their Creator, God. In England there are no Baptist or Methodist or Pentecostals but only the Church of England even still today. That is why they came here in the first place.
So chew around on my opinion and give me your opinion. Maybe we can learn something from each other along the way. God Bless The United States of America.

I Said, "When The Dust Settles"!
A few days after my loss in the Republican primary election of 2010 in Crittenden County, KY, I answered a question put forth to me by the editor pf The Crittenden Press, Chris Evans. He asked if I was going to be involved in politics in the future. To the best of my recollection, he (Chris) posed the question more like this, are you going to run for office again? I answered that question with this answer, "I'm going to let the dust settle first". Well, I have and I still have a deep yearning to run for political office. I don't know when that will be or for what office I would run for if I do.
I have been a Republican all my life. Except the time when I was trying to land a job with the State of KY back in the early 1980's. I was told by a close person to the political state that I needed to change my party because it would really look good on my application. So I did! After I landed another job (about 1 month later) I changed back and have been a loyal member of this republican party ever since.
The truth is, I know what I believe and stand for and I'm not sure if "a" single party has that anymore. There are some good and a few not as good people on both sides of our major parties here in our county of Crittenden. I know that from my 8 years as a county magistrate in district # 5. So who am I?
To answer that question, I would have to say that when I was on the fiscal court I was a registered republican. Yet not just for Republicans. I was inside the republican party but not a republican insider. I attribute this mostly due to my independent votes I would make on several different issues. If I had it to do again......I would do the same thing. I voted my conscience! I voted NO to the insurance tax that was raised on the people of this county. Why did I vote that way? Even though the new "Tea Party" didn't ask me that or state that their group stands against raising new taxes, I received no vocal or financial support from them even though I voted several times my conscience and several times I was the only "no" vote. The tea party stands for: "Taxed Enough Already"! I have to say that I agree with that position but, I was not an insider of the good ole boys club. That's the truth as well I received little support from the party I have been a life member of except for the time I had mentioned trying to put food on my family's table.
So what am I now? I am an American that will be praying for our Almighty God to lead me, direct me and guide me in what party, what office and whether I need to pursue any office at all! Our country needs "LEADERSHIP" now more than ever! From the Courthouse to the White House and it is all of our responsibility to "Step Up To The Plate"

Occasionally, an issue of such importance arises we feel it necessary to contact our loyal customers. With our fishing rights at stake, this is such an issue.
On August 23, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was petitioned by the Center for Biological Diversity and others to ban lead from ammunition and fishing tackle, including sinkers, jigs, weighted fly lines and components containing lead, such as brass and ballast in lures, spinners, stick baits and others fishing products.
On August 27, the EPA denied the petition regarding ammunition, but let stand the petition to ban lead in fishing tackle and has opened a short period for taking public comment.
Such a ban would cause prices of fishing products to skyrocket. Alternative metals can cost from 6 to 15 times more than lead, and most do not perform as well. For many, fishing would no longer be the affordable sport it is now.
Please join us and Keep America Fishing in opposing this ban by submitting your comments to the EPA by no later than September 15, 2010. You can easily do so by Clicking Here.

Where Did They All Go?
When I was 16 years of age, I would run the streets of Marion driving my 1968 Ford Mustang. I remember there being 50 or so other teenagers up town that I personally knew.
Where have they all gone?
Now when I travel the streets of this small town, I recognize only a few kids and that's mostly because I coached them in little league or my two kids who are no loner "kids" now knew them.
Time gets away and yet it stays the same. We are the ones who change. Marriage, death or simply relocation primarily because of a better paying job is the reason I believe.
What is your opinion? That's mine! Mostly.
